Description
Experienced (PC based) DTP artist required for corporate environment. Candidates must have a friendly, positive attitude towards work, have a good eye for detail, work well under pressure, have the ability to interpret briefs from clients and handle overtime. Good language and writing skills essential.
Skills Required
Corporate Identity, and the technicalities of CI application and design

Corporate design, e.g. Print adverts for newspapers, invitations, flyers, marketing items

Must be knowledgeable of the printing process (setting up for repro)


PRIMARY FOCUS:

Corporate Identity Guidance
1. Evaluation of work sent for approval/comment based on CI Guidelines
2. Ensuring consistent use of CI across all applications
3. CI Education/feedback

Corporate Identity
• Application of CI specifications and relative rules
• An excellent understanding of print and repro, and capable of taking a job from start to print setup
• Excellent knowledge of primary design packages (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Good knowledge of secondary design packages (Flash, 3D studio, Dreamweaver etc)
• Must have online experience
• Ability to work under pressure

3. Technical proficiency & expertise in design and CI
4. Excellent attention to detail
5. Implementation of CI

SECONDARY FOCUS:

DTP
• Interpretation of given briefs which meet the brief requirements
• Layout and basic design of branch adverts, and other branch DTP requirements
• Time Management
• Attention to detail
• Implementation of CI
• Technical expertise
• Supplying of concise and accurate records of work flow on job bag – includes time and materials used
• Backing up of all work
• Responsible and accountable for all DTP application through to end product

Processes
Adherence to established processes (Completing job bags with time and materials etc; routing of jobs through correct channels; backing up of work; saving work as per established standards)
Knowledge required to perform
• Good language/writing skills
• Excellent knowledge of Design packages
• An understanding of the client’s business
• An excellent understanding of design and production processes
• Excellent knowledge of primary layout packages (In-Design, Illustrator)
• Good knowledge of secondary packages (Word & Powerpoint)
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure

Education & Experience
Education/Qualifications
Diploma DTP Graphic design or similar

Experience
3 years + experience in the design industry, corporate experience is an added advantage. Software specific training (Photoshop, Illustrator/InDesign).
Experience in CI specific position.
