To manage the day-to-day operations and technology requirements within the Africa Business
Exceptional Organisational & Project Management skills needed to lead all in-house broadcast, production technologies, operations & distribution related developments.
A desire to work independently in a dynamic and ever changing environment.
A key component of this role is to provide the highest possible standards of service and support to various departments and managing third-party relationships of Technology and Operations department, as well as identifying and developing opportunities which add maximum business value.

? To ensure clear & concise contact between the channel / London. To act as a bridge between the creative and technical teams translating the channel needs into on screen reality.

? Management of third-party suppliers to ensure the highest possible levels of service and support, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

? Assess processes & procedures to provide the most efficient & streamlined methods of communicating information and complete adherence to deadlines.

? Project management of all in house channel operations development.

? Oversee the Operations Coordinator ensuring he/she deal effectively with any daily issues or problems, programming changes, etc, between transmission and the regions.

? To act as the local CSD (Channel Support and Development) point of contact to assess local development requirements & submit to EMHQ (Emerging Markets Head Quarters) CSD – Manage the roll out of & on the ground training for new workflows & applications.

? To utilise the transmission systems to resolve all programming and production issues before the transmission log is sent, to achieve accurate, timely and complete transmission schedules.

? Develop a network of relationships with Senior Technology and Operations staff within the Emerging Markets Network and establish self as the key point of contact for all technology & operations issues for Africa.

? Develop a strong working relationship with all staff across multiple disciplines to ensure their technical & operational requirements are met. Assist them with any day-to-day issues they may have and ensure you have a good understanding of each of their roles in order to constantly develop more efficient systems.

? Attending meetings and discussions for new ideas/shows, providing feedback as to the feasibility of taking these ideas to air, in the production & transmission environment.

? To understand every element of channel creation, their scheduling tools, any commercial imperatives in order to advise, develop and police procedures.

? To understand every element of IT infrastructure and manage the required changes.

? Creating and maintaining a Technology environment (Broadcast, IT, Facilities) which enables the creative and strategic growth.

? Provide support and first line maintenance for the broadcast infrastructure.

? To work closely with the EMHQ Operations & Technology leads in order to ensure synergies across EM.

? To manage all distribution and affiliate related projects by working closely with satellite providers, affiliates & commercial team.

? To manage a database of subscribers and deal with any technical queries from cable or satellite companies. Manage, with the legal team, all communication with cable & satellite customers regarding technical changes.

? Facilitate the development of Digital Media platforms within the Emerging Markets businesses.

? Responsible for ensuring that all assets media adheres to standards including file format(s) and associated meta-data sets etc.

? To assist EMHQ with the developing all MAM and digital delivery workflows process and procedures (internally & externally) for technical resilience and best practise, highlighting any impending issues or problems.

? To inform and explain details of relevant technical procedures, where necessary, to all those within the areas of channel creation.

? To coordinate and develop delivery mechanisms required by the channel(s) on an ongoing basis.

? Responsible for monitoring and reporting the costs associated with Technology & Operations and ensuring the costs are kept as low as possible.

? Responsible for documenting all standards, process and procedures.

? First point of contact for all communications, networking and distribution requirements.

? Ensure efficient and optimal utilisation of all infrastructure.

? Responsible for enforcing operator understanding of all production and post-production systems and instilling local standards, set-up and configuration methodologies.

? Any other duties as and when required

Skills Required
? Strong experience in a technical and/or operational role within the media.
? Good overall knowledge of end-to-end broadcast operations and technology including the functions and roles within a television network.
? Proven history of setting up systems and procedures relating to tape traffic, GFX, scheduling or transmission.
? Proven knowledge of television processes from concept to consumer.
? Good written / verbal communication skills are essential.
? Ability to analyse situations and provide creative solutions to complex problems.
? Assertiveness and ability to challenge the status quo.
? Project management or channel launch experience.
? Process and deadline driven
? Experience in a supervisory capacity or above.
? Sound knowledge of transmission, QA & Library.
? Knowledge of content storage, movement & management.
? Good understanding of broadcast standards and procedures.
? Thorough understanding of the production & post-production workflow.
? Good understanding of the production & post-production environment including related systems
